- The Parade of Unfortunate Star Wars Costumes
- Cap'n Wacky strikes back! And this time, he has a legion of living-room Jedis with him. Everybody wants to be a Star Wars character, but not everyone can carry it off. Some gardens have gnomes, others have Stormtroopers, but neither is particularly threatening. Two Hans aren't necessarily better than one. We're not sure if a sexy Boba Fett is a good idea either. C-3PO was comic relief in the movies, but he shouldn't be doing a little song and dance. And we're sorry to say it but, yes, that Death Star costume makes your butt look big. It's painfully clear why Scott Baio lost out to Harrison Ford. Too bad Stormtrooper Elvis and Deadhead Stormtrooper can't save us from the most unfortunate costume of them all. May the farce be with you! -

- The Paul Smith Foundation
- Keyboard smiley faces made with a colon and a parenthesis. That's nothing : ) Paul Smith has been creating famous smiles using only a typewriter for seven decades. In spite of his severe cerebral palsy, he manages to craft portraits and landscapes by using one hand to hit the keys and the other to steady his typing hand. He uses only 10 characters on the keyboard, but that doesn't impede his artistic _expression. With a variety of color typewriter ribbons, Mr. Smith creates idyll scenes and patriotic renderings. His online gallery shows just 15 of his more than 300 creations. See how he manages to go from a few keystrokes to a full portrait in a "time-lapse" exhibit. Then gather inspiration from this remarkable man and his remarkable skills. -

- The Virtual Star Wars Memorabilia Museum
- Star Wars came out nearly 30 years ago, but the Force is stronger than ever at the Virtual Star Wars Memorabilia Museum. The curators claim they've collected 28,000 pieces of memorabilia from a galaxy far, far away. Eat your heart out, Louvre. Of course they have mint condition action figures of everyone from Luke to Lando, but the real treasure lies in the less-obvious licensing. Who knew Jabba the Hutt endorsed bubble bath? And we don't want to imagine what Princess Leia would do if she knew her likeness was being used to hock "beauty bags" -- heck, she's killed Stormtroopers for less. True, many of these products make little sense, but neither do Wookiees who fly spaceships. -

- This Is Broken
- If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The new thinking is, if it is broke, submit it to This Is Broken, a site created to "make businesses more aware of their customer experience, and how to fix it." This project invites consumers to voice their complaints about everything from oxymoronic mineral water to contradictory signs in bathroom stalls. Software programs are frequent offenders, and even simple tasks like entering and exiting a building can become difficult due to confusing signage. Mark Hurst, the man behind the site, says making this list of bad experiences will actually benefit these companies -- they'll make more money. It will also help their customers -- they'll have an improved experience. The site is already paying off -- a certain popular portal's weather section fixed the problem listed on this online watchdog. -

- Toothpasteworld
- What does a respectable Michigan dentist do for kicks? Well, once he puts down the drill and local anesthetic, he devotes his time to his collection. And because he's a dentist, his collection covers the wide world of toothpaste -- over 1,000 squeezable tubes strong! Dr. Val Kolpakov's Aim is simple: to tell the Close-Up story of Ultra Brite, Panda, Kiss My Face, and other smile-inducing concoctions. All this variety can be dizzying, but the good doctor helps makes some Sensodyne of it. Who knew that Canada, Malaysia, and Israel also packaged their unique brands of fluoride and minty freshness in a variety of colorful tubes and boxes? Or that characters such as Woody Woodpecker, the Care Bears, and Hello Kitty have lent their names to the cause of top-quality teeth. Dr. Val sure does. And we salute him for broadening our oral-care horizons. -

- Who Is That With Jeremy?
- In an endearing twist on the classic politician-kissing-a-baby photo-op, this tyke turns the tables and presses the flesh with the likes of ex-presidents, pop divas, R&B moguls, and movie stars in and around the Big Apple. Jeremy is an adorable two-year-old who hangs with his stay-at-home pop while mom's at work. Pop figured one day they could celebrity-hunt in between diaper changes and bottle feedings, and the results of their fruitful day trips are well documented. Before the cutie could say "cheese," he met Rosie O'Donnell, Billy Joel, Spike Lee, and one G. Gordon Liddy. Although Jeremy's too young to share his first impressions, his expressive face does all the talking. Hey Jeremy, who's your Diddy? -
