- Dirty Car Art
- Scott Wade lives at the end of a mile and a half of unpaved Texas gravel, clay, and limestone dust. And each time he drives to and from his home, his MINI Cooper looks like it. But where most of us would see a spectacularly dirty car, Scott sees a blank canvas. Why waste three-and-a-half feet of dirt-coated shatterproof glass, when you can create art with it? Using an assortment of brushes, Scott has fashioned the dust on his rear windshield into likenesses of Mona Lisa and Albert Einstein, tributes to local reporters, propaganda for tongue-in-cheek politicos, and the occasional portrait of his pre-teen. We particularly like the way he tracks his temporary sketches as they meet with wind, sun, rain, and the occasional vandal (often in the form of his cat Squeak). But if you see Scott on the road, watch out. His rearview vision is clearly impaired. -

- Hog Heaven: Celebrating 100 Years of the Harley-Davidson
- The motorcycle affectionately known as the "hog" celebrates its 100th birthday this year. Yes, the Harley-Davidson Motor Company launched its road warrior in 1903 -- the same year Henry Ford incorporated the Ford Motor Company and the Wright brothers first took to the air. Brought to you by the Library of Congress, this retrospective explains how the modest "transport vehicle" became an American icon. Start your engine with a collection of early Harley ads, including one that touts the Model 11-F, an 11-horsepower, 3-speed machine for $275 (a price that might buy a couple of tires for your hog in 2003). Other image galleries show Harleys at work, war, and play. If you need to brush up on hog history, articles offer a primer on what it means to ride the open road on an American classic. -

- Pacer Page
- If you don't remember this egg-shaped hoopty from the '70s, the Mirth Mobile from "Wayne's World" might help jog your memory. AMC Pacer aficionado Jeni Panhorst created this homage to the perky little Pacer after she took possession of a hand-me-down Hamster-Mobile. She soon became a full-fledged fan of these funky hatchbacks. Produced from 1975 to 1980, this quirky-looking car may have a short history, yet its unique design garnered a cult following. Read affectionate Pacer stories and search through the archives of over 500 far-out Pacer photos. Facts and technical details will enhance your Pacer knowledge, and if you're on the prowl for a Pregnant Guppy, check the classifieds. True fans will love the commercials and vintage news video, plus original songs dedicated to the beloved bubble car. And remember the old promo line: "You only ride like a Pacer if you're wide like a Pacer." -
